9/11. 7/7. Muslims attacking cities and innocent people in the name of Islam. News breaking out that they have attacked places. Cities in chaos. And this is done in the name of Islam. What did Muhammed (pbuh) say about violence and would he have accepted this? Or has this all been lost in translation?
Muhammed (pbuh) forbade the loss of any innocent lives. Saying, “the death of one person is like killing the whole of humanity”. He even used to tell his companions not to chop trees down or harm innocent people. And he regarded life to be sacred. Not just for Muslims, but all of humanity.
The problem is not with what he taught. The problem is with those that have misinterpreted his teachings. That’s why out of 2 billion Muslims, 99.9% condemn any attacks on innocent civilians.
After being driven out of his home city Makkah, when he went back to visit Muhammed (pbuh) could have retaliated who murdered and tortured him, his family, and followers. But he actually forgave them. They could live in peace and practice their own beliefs and he never forced Islam upon them.
Unfortunately, today a few Muslims will pick and choose what they want to hear and misinterpret to suit their personal agenda. This isn’t aligned with what the real teachings are. Where Muslims are taught to protect all human lives, at all costs. Not even harming the hair of another person.
Muhammed and his household (peace and blessings of Allah upon them) are the root and source of All goodness, security and mercy for the entire creation. In the Qur’an, God mentions Muhammed’s characteristics.
“Certainly a Messenger has come to you from among yourselves; grievous to him is your falling into distress, excessively solicitous respecting you; to the believers (he is) compassionate, merciful.”
Qur’an: 9-128
Also, he is mentioned as mercy.
“and we have not sent you but as a mercy for the entire creation.”
Qur’an: 21: 107
