Attacks on synagogues and churches. Muslims burning the cross. Communities isolating from other communities. Which has caused divisions, especially in the west. Why do Muslims disrespect other religions? And is this what Muhammed (pbuh) taught his followers?
When Muhammed (pbuh) was in Madinah, he lived alongside the Jews and Christians. And he allowed them to have the same rights as Muslims in the community. Any people of other religions who lived in Muslim countries or lands, were actually protected by the Muslim authorities.
For 500 years, when Muslims ruled Spain, Christians, Muslims and Jews lived together as neighbours. They did business together. It was probably the most peaceful time everyone lived together. This was under Muslim ruling.
Muhammed allowed synagogues and churches to stay open and they could go and worship freely. He never forced religion upon anyone. And made sure every human had the freedom to worship and practice their religion.
Islam allows people of different faiths to live side by side. To do business with one another. And to respect the laws of the country that they live in. And when the Muslims were sent to Ethiopia, which was a Christian country at that time, by Muhammed (pbuh). He told them that they must respect the laws of the country. And that they benefit the country they reside in.
Some people communities today, who isolate themselves, this isn’t done on Islamic basis. Rather it is done from a cultural aspect. Muhammed (pbuh) encourages us to live together peacefully and help serve all backgrounds.
